.:: Coated papers
I work in a chemical laboratory as a assistant. It's my first practice in my subject. I still study at university. To do the practice well I must write "practice diary" and show it to my professor each week. Last time I could tell him about long – term study for some compan. Features of many sort of papers have been investigated.
Coated papers is used especially for magazines, catalogs and direct mail. Their performance relies on uniform quality of the printing surface.
The influence of the grammage on the cracking event has been studied and it was shown that the coating material would not fail if the paper sample was sufficiently thin. Investigated has been for example folding.
Problem the mechanical behaviour of coated papers has been studied with many techniques and analyses.
One thing connected with coated papers was also studied: dynamic effects of coated papers.
The results of these studies indicate that the large anisotropy in the thickness direction of coated papers needs to be taken into account in order to fully understand the mechanics of folding.
I know that in the nearest future our laboratory is going to check qualities other kinds of papers. It's not so easy to be chemical assistant.
When I was chosing this way of my carriere I hoped that it would be something more exciting. I wanted work for farmacery and invent a cure against cancer or something like this. Of course, everything is still possible but I've found out that the most money and efforts are invested in this sort of studies which I've done in laboratory. I'm looking for place where I might do something for humanity, not only businness and industry. And I realise that the only way to be succesfull in my dreams and plans is to be the best student and work very hard. Thatsway I do in laboratory everything that is needed and I write my weekly reports. Some day I'm going to be real chemist.
